We work with adult individuals to address a wide range of difficulties. We always have at least one psychologist available for after-hours and weekend bookings at no extra charge. We can also visit you at your home or hospital for a small out-call fee. Do note that currently, we do not see couples or children but we are always happy to refer you to a recommended psychologist in Perth who does, just get in touch and let us know what we can do.

Our approach to psychological counselling and therapy is based on both short and long-term positive outcomes and to this end, we place an emphasis on psycho-education and skills training to ensure that you have the tools you need to thrive in the long run while also addressing immediate presenting concerns and symptoms.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THERAPY BEFORE, WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN MY FIRST SESSION ?
We understand that taking the first step to seeking professional help can be daunting and it is important to us to make this as easy as possible.
In your first session, you will generally spend the first 3 to 5 minutes going through and filling up our consent form and information sheet. During this time, you are encouraged to ask as many questions as you need about your psychologist. You may realise in the first couple of sessions that you will be doing the majority of the talking while your psychologist listens attentively and takes down notes as necessary.
Where applicable, we will usually come up with a treatment plan at the end of either the first or second session after information has been collected and analysed. You might also be asked to complete a short psychological test (e.g. DASS-21, JSS, BDI-II) at the end of each session to give us both an idea of your progress. This can be done in a few minutes and is completed electronically on our iPad.
We are proponents of feedback informed treatment and when necessary, use feedback rating scales / surveys regularly to make sure that you are progressing well and benefiting from our sessions.

What treatment approaches do you use ?
Our psychologists are skilled in a wide range of treatment modalities and ultimately, what we use would depend on your individual circumstances. Rest assured we only use evidence-based approaches and our practice ensures that all psychologists are kept up to date on the latest developments in our field.
Some examples of the type of approach we might use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Skills training or psycho-education. Don’t stress if these terms are not familiar to you, your psychologist will always make sure you know what is happening at all times.
What will we talk about during counselling ?
Many people see a psychologist without knowing what to expect or where or how to begin. This is perfectly fine. Some of the things that might be discussed in these sessions include identifying and clarifying your goals for yourself and your identity, examining your current situation and obstacles which might be preventing you from achieving your full potential.
We also aim to work together with you to analyse your strengths / weaknesses / achievements as well as any aspect of your life that you might want to change. Remember, counselling is not only about “fixing” a bad situation, it is also about making an average or good situation better. Thrive, not survive is our motto.
My psychologists' approach is not a good fit for me
During the first few sessions, You are encouraged to pay attention to how you feel during and after each session to decide if the psychologist’s approach is a good match for you. If you feel that it’s not really going well, please do not hesitate to let us know and we can assist you in getting a referral to someone who might be a better fit.
We understand that everyone is unique and different approaches work better on different people depending on a multitude of factors that might not be apparent even to ourselves. Ultimately, your well-being is our top priority.
How much will I have to pay ?
We take great pride in our affordable and inclusive fee system which is currently at $165 per session before rebates. Your out of pocket costs will generally be much lower than this if you have private health rebates or are using medicare rebates. We do not charge extra for weekends or after hours appointments.
