Sliding Scale & Bulk Billing
Under our sliding scale system, fees may be reduced depending on your circumstances. e.g. For unemployed individuals who are facing financial hardship, we slide our fees down to a low of $135 per session ($135 Fee – Medicare Rebate ($84.80) = Approximately $50 Out of Pocket per session). The exact amount is determined on a case-by-case basis. Limited bulk-billing appointments are available each week for those who need it the most. If you feel these circumstances apply to you, please get in touch and discuss it with your psychologist BEFORE your first session.
How do I get Medicare Rebates
Medicare will provide a rebate of $84.80 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year with a valid referral from a GP or Specialist. You will need to book a consultation with your GP to get a mental health care plan (MHCP) and referral letter which has to be addressed to the psychologist you wish to see. We cannot provide the rebate if we do not get your referral letter so please bring it with you or ensure your GP has sent it to us.
Using Private Health Cover
Private health insurance offers significant rebates depending on your particular level of cover. This could range anywhere from $50 to the full $165 but you should always check with your provider before you book a session with a psychologist. You do not need any referrals to claim private health rebates. While we are registered providers with almost all the major health insurance providers, it is always a good idea to check with both us and your health insurance beforehand if your sessions will be covered. If you are covered, you will only have to pay the gap fee.
