Psychologist Fees and Rebates

Our Fees & Relevant Rebates

We're an affordable private billing psychology practice. Accessible mental healthcare is very important to us. In addition to our reduced session fees, we provide reduced costs for out-calls and couples counselling.

Our Full Psychologist Fees *BEFORE REBATES*

Your out-of-pocket costs will be significantly lower than this with Medicare or private health rebates. (If Applicable)
This is our Full Session Fees BEFORE Any Rebate. Your out-of-pocket amount will be significantly less with a MHCP and referral (For Medicare Rebates) or Private Health Rebates. Please have a read through this page thoroughly to learn about the rebates available and do get in touch if you have any questions or concerns. Humanique is a private billing practice and does not offer Bulk-Billing services.

Please note that Medicare rebates are not automatic. To be eligible for your rebate, you need a Mental health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral from a GP to Humanique. Please read this entire section to learn more.

Accessing Medicare Rebates

To get your medicare rebate for visiting a psychologist, you first have to book an appointment with your GP and let them know you need a mental health care plan (MHCP). Your GP will then work with you to develop this MHCP at your appointment and write you a referral to a psychologist if necessary. Currently, Medicare allows you to see any psychologist you wish with a MHCP even if it is not the one you have been referred to. Please speak with your doctor or give us a call to find out more.

You need to ensure that we receive a copy of your MHCP and referral letter before or at your first session to be eligible to receive your rebate. Usually, you will bring the document with you but in certain cases, your GP might fax it over to us directly. Medicare will rebate a total of 10 sessions per calendar year. If you have any questions about Medicare rebates please give us a call at 1300 059 666 or use our contact form and we’ll be happy to talk you through.

Using Private Health

Private health insurance may offer significant rebates depending on your particular policy and level of cover. This could range anywhere from less than $50 to the full amount but you should always check with your provider before you book a session with a psychologist. You do not need any referrals to claim private health rebates and can just make a booking with us directly.

The amount you will be rebated varies greatly between providers, it is always a good idea to check with both us, and your health insurance provider beforehand to make sure that your sessions will be covered. If you are covered, you will only have to pay the gap fee.

Couples & Marriage Counselling Fees

Please note that Medicare does not provide a rebate for couples and relationship / marriage counselling. For this service, you will have to pay the full $180 out of pocket at each appointment. We know it can be hard to afford counselling when you are going through a tough time so we have tried to price ourselves affordably.

Costs of Psychological Testing

Pricing for Psychological Testing varies greatly depending on the test provider. Generally, we do not make a profit from any tests / test materials, these are provided at cost price to you. We only charge you for our time spent throughout the administration process, follow up reports, and other relevant associated costs.
